Description
Golding Homes is a community-based housing association, centred around Maidstone, with over 8,500 homes and 20,000 customers. We are proud of our strong local identity, our customer relationships and our commitment to creating homes and communities people can be proud of.
Building on the strong progress made under our 2023–2026 Corporate Plan, and alongside our recent C1, G1, V2 regulatory grading, we are entering the next phase of our journey with confidence and ambition. Our Corporate Plan for 2026–2030 sets a clear direction, focused on delivering excellent customer outcomes, safe and high-quality homes, and a financially resilient, efficient and future-ready organisation.
We are increasingly using data and insight to move from reactive to proactive services, investing where it makes the greatest difference while maintaining a disciplined approach to value for money. Our values, We Care, We Welcome New Ideas, We Take Pride and We Own It, underpin everything we do and shape how we lead, collaborate and deliver for our customers.
The Opportunity
As Chair, you will play a pivotal role in leading Golding through the next stage of its evolution, building on strong foundations while helping to deliver continued improvement in performance, governance and long-term resilience. You will lead a committed and capable Board, ensuring strong governance, effective oversight and a clear focus on strategic priorities and customer outcomes. Working closely with the Chief Executive and Executive Team, you will foster a high-performing and collaborative leadership environment, supporting and constructively challenging to drive the organisation forward.
A key part of the role will be setting the tone for the Board, creating a culture of openness, trust and constructive challenge. You will ensure that the Board operates with both rigour and empathy, enabling effective decision-making and maintaining strong relationships between Board and Executive. This is a time of continued progress for Golding, requiring a Chair who can balance continuity with evolution, and who is able to guide the organisation confidently through an increasingly complex and highly regulated environment.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced non-executive leader with prior Board Chair or Committee Chair experience, and a strong track record within the housing sector, gained in either an executive or non-executive capacity.
You will bring:
- Board-level experience in the housing sector
- The ability to lead an effective, high-performing Board
- Strong governance, judgement and financial awareness
- A clear commitment to customer-focused services
- Experience of working in a regulated environment
- A forward-looking, strategic perspective and alignment with our values.
If you share our passion for making a difference through housing and have the skills and experience to lead us through the next stage of our journey, we would love to hear from you.
