Chair recruitment
Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in the role of Chair at Golding Homes. This is an exciting time to join Golding as we continue the journey to deliver our vision to be an efficient, local, visible and listening landlord – working with our communities and partners to make a real difference to our customers’ lives.
Golding is a community-based housing association, centred around Maidstone, with a proud history of providing over 8,500 homes and serving 20,000 customers. We’ve invested significantly in improving our services and our homes, addressing historic under investment, whilst maintaining a modest development programme, consciously recognising the short term impact this has on our financial metrics. We remain committed to delivering excellent customer service, safe homes and sustainable communities and being an efficient high performing organisation. Our values of we care, we welcome new ideas and we take pride, underpin everything we do.
The social housing sector faces unprecedented challenges: rising costs, increased regulation, and the urgent need for safe, sustainable homes. We are proud of the progress we’ve made and excited about what lies ahead. In the past year, we have:
- seen improvements across all key service and customer satisfaction measures
- involved our customer voice panel of over 3000 customers in setting strategy and driving service improvement
- committed to invest £103m in improving our existing homes, over years 2025-30
- delivered 128 new homes year to date, exceeding our target, and continued regeneration projects which will bring 309 energy-efficient homes and welcoming community spaces.
- maintained 100% compliance with key health and safety standards.
- modernised systems and services through our Fit for the Future programme.
As our current corporate plan comes to an end, our focus for the coming four years will be on continued customer service excellence alongside driving value for money to deliver our financial targets.
These achievements reflect who we are: a hands-on, community-based organisation that cares deeply about its customers and colleagues. Our Board and Executive Team work in genuine partnership, and our outgoing Chair, Chris, has played a pivotal role in enabling strong governance and supporting transformative change. We are proud of this collaborative culture and will continue to build on it.
Golding is a place where people feel connected and valued. Our colleagues are passionate about what they do, and our customers are at the heart of every decision. Joining us means being part of an organisation that is authentic, ambitious, and committed to creating homes and communities people can be proud of.
If this resonates with you, we look forward to welcoming you to explore this opportunity with us.
